College Prowler Take

Students love to complain about the parking situation at Clemson. With so many students living off campus,
Clemson has a large commuter population and nowhere to park on-campus. Everyone agrees that driving to campus is
a pain because you might end up walking even further than you drove.

Fortunately, everything at Clemson is within short walking distance from anywhere on campus. Although driving to campus is terribly inconvenient, the lack of cars on campus makes the campus that much more enjoyable to walk.

Where your dorm [is located] determines which parking lot you will park in. Most of the time it’s a good five- to ten-minute walk from your dorm to the parking lot. That’s when the CAT bus and escort service come in handy.

The parking scene on campus is awful! The best place to park is in the pits. Leave your car there and don’t leave unless you have to. The good thing about Clemson is that everything is pretty much within walking distance.

Parking is terrible. It’s hard to find a spot, and they will not hesitate to ticket or tow your car at all. It’s pretty easy to get by without a car if you want. If you do bring a car, just be prepared to ‘pit’ it in a parking lot a good distance from your dorm.

There is plenty of parking available if you want to park a mile from anywhere you want to be. Parking anywhere close to classrooms, dorms, dining halls, etc. simply does not happen during the day and requires a little bit of luck even at night (except on the weekends). Parking Services Officials are often referred to as Nazis and are particularly overzealous in their awarding of tickets.

Parking is one of the biggest pains on campus. It’s nice that they let freshmen bring cars. However, commuter parking spots can often be far from where you want to be. Be prepared to take risks and get some parking tickets.
