Students at Coe come from different walks of life. There is a good mixture of geographical and economic diversity. Coe has students from many European and Asian countries and a few from the African region, as well. Thus, this culture variety brings religious diversity to the College, too; however, religious differences are rarely acknowledged, nor can students find many religious organizations on campus.

Despite some diversity on campus, Coe students are mostly from Iowa or other states in the Midwest, which causes some students to complain about the lack of variety within the campus community. On the contrary, some students on campus are unwilling to share space with people from different backgrounds. Overall, though, most students are fairly tolerant towards differences in thought, attitude, and ethnicity.
