This is a tragic but important fact: In September 2003, a senior at Colby, Dawn Rossignol, was found dead about a mile from campus. Her death was ruled a homicide, and her killer, Edward Hackett, a parolee from a prison in Utah, has been tried, found guilty, and sentenced to life in prison without parole.
