Simply put, Colgate students love Colgate. Prospective students pick Colgate as much as Colgate picks them. It is no surprise that the University's retention rate from freshman to sophomore year is 94 percent. It is the best combination of a small liberal arts college and a major university. It has the strong sense of community and warmth of a small college, but the impressive faculty and staff of a major university. Students have a variety of activities to choose from, such as student-run organizations and publications, clubs, and athletic teams. Whatever their interest, Colgate students find their niche and flourish. The University fosters growth and maturity, but most important is the amazing group of individuals living in the dorms and on staff.
Through all the partying and camaraderie, academics and organizations, Colgate grooms its students to become outstanding individuals, soon to be pillars of communities. Students love Colgate, and once you get past the weather, you should be fine. Most students never consider transferring. Their pride and enthusiasm for the school are contagious, and this sucks anyone in who was not convinced from the beginning.
