College Prowler Take

Campus Safety, though visible on campus, does not intimidate most students. The most common thing to be nailed for is drinking or marijuana use. Once students feel out their RAs and Campus Safety, they know how to avoid getting caught drinking in their room or partying. Students are allowed three offenses before a counseling referral and are sometimes punished by changing dormitories. Even so, most students rarely experience disciplinary action, and if they do, they soon forget about it, and their lifestyles are in no way altered. Just don’t make it a habit of getting caught, because what starts as a warning can eventually turn into more severe repercussions for repeat offenders.

Campus Safety exist for the safety of students and tend to let quite a bit slide. If you make them take action, such as making a scene or getting caught with possession of alcohol or marijuana, then they will take the appropriate action. Despite the regular patrols by either officers or students, Campus Safety does not impose a threat on student activities. However, they do maintain some visibility, in order to make students feel that they are still watched and protected.

It is pretty strict the first two years when you're living up the hill. Once you move down the hill, you can do whatever you want without worrying that you'll get busted.

Campus Safety is here to make sure we don't get in trouble with the local police. They're pretty lax about things, and punishments are basically slaps on the wrists. They're pretty cool people to get know.

Alcohol enforcement here is a joke. I've was caught drinking five times in the first semester I was here and never got in any trouble. Marijuana has a little stricter punishment.

During the first couple of months of school, Campo (Campus Safety) is pretty strict, but they loosen up. You will get written up if you get caught. If you're caught often enough, you'll be put on probation. If you're discreet and not ridiculously loud or anything, you're pretty much fine. They know we mostly all drink, and they can't stop everyone, so they only stop the really obnoxious drinkers.

If you're blatantly in violation...

If you're blatantly in violation of a drinking or drug policy in public, then you'll get in trouble. Usually, if you do anything in your room or behind your dorm building, you're fine. As long as you at least try to cover up any smells from smoke, you'll be pretty good. In short, you can do almost anything but just be smart about it.
