College Prowler Take
Simply put, Colgate students love Colgate. Prospective students pick Colgate as much as Colgate picks them. It is no surprise that the University’s retention rate from freshman to sophomore year is 94 percent. It is the best combination of a small liberal arts college and a major university. It has the strong sense of community and warmth of a small college, but the impressive faculty and staff of a major university. Students have a variety of activities to choose from, such as student-run organizations and publications, clubs, and athletic teams. Whatever their interest, Colgate students find their niche and flourish. The University fosters growth and maturity, but most important is the amazing group of individuals living in the dorms and on staff. Through all the partying and camaraderie, academics and organizations, Colgate grooms its students to become outstanding individuals, soon to be pillars of communities. Students love Colgate, and once you get past the weather, you should be fine. Most students never consider transferring. Their pride and enthusiasm for the school are contagious, and this sucks anyone in who was not convinced from the beginning. Students Speak Out

Sometimes I do wish I were...
Sometimes I do wish I were somewhere else, but then I remember that Colgate is an experience unlike any other, and I have the rest of my life to live in a city and be surrounded by people with a grasp on reality. For now, I’m enjoying the dream world that is the snow globe of Hamilton, NY. |

The opportunities and freedom one...
The opportunities and freedom one has to shape his or her college experience at Colgate makes it a great undergraduate experience. We have the academics of an Ivy League school, but a student body that can better balance their books with their beer. The community-driven, personal nature of the college makes each student’s college career unique but similar. As a result, I think most students graduate from Colgate feeling an intimate connection with all of their classmates, and those that came before them. It is truly a special place. |

So far, I have really enjoyed my time at Colgate. I have experienced some of the best times of my life, and some of the toughest. While I never thought Colgate would be the quasi-elitist party school that it is, it has given me the opportunity to experience a life that I have never encountered before in southern New Jersey. If college is the time in your life to have fun, party, and put in only as much effort as you like, then Colgate is the perfect place. However, I have noticed over the past two years thatI am much more inquisitive and intelligent now than I was before I arrived in Hamilton, New York. I have thus far received an excellent education and met some of the greatest people I have ever known, and would not trade this experience for any Ivy League institution or state institution closer to a major city. |

Trying to decide on a college was possibly the most miserable few months of high school for me. I was absolutely torn between Colgate and Rutgers, for so many different reasons. Finally, I just went with my gut and chose Colgate. I’ve been here two years now, and I couldn’t even imagine being anywhere else. |
