Grads Entering Job MarketAdvice
- If you are worried about finding a job after going to school, or if you have a hard time making a decision for extended education, fear not. Career Services at the College of Charleston is there to help, and can assist you in finding opportunities before graduation. One of the great resources they provide is Cistern Online, a Web site for both students and alumni on which employers post internship and job opportunities for students. Another great resource is the Career Fair, which is usually held every semester at the Galliard Auditorium on Calhoun Street. Employers ranging from the Peace Corps to Geico, as well as graduate schools, aim to recruit CofC students. Tailor your resume, put on a nice outfit, and be prepared to talk to potential employers!
If you know what major you would like to declare, declare it! Once you do this your department coordinator will send you tons of emails about available internships and/or other interesting things pertaining to your major. Also stay in touch with Career Services—they love to help alumni find jobs.
