Dreary winter weather. Gorgeous summer weather.

Worcester is a great city once you get to know it. Not as scary as everyone thinks it is.

HCNetReg, the wifi sucks.

White, Irish-Catholics abound, but we are 25% minority and ALANA students.

Campus is moving towards 100% on campus residency so off-campus is dying down.

Don't have a car and only live an hour away so its not hard to get home.

For such high academic standards, the food is lacking.

Guys & Girls:
Hard to find the one, but plenty if your the type just looking for a good time.

Health & Safety:
Health Center is a joke. Public Safety officers usually only break up parties, but won't help with stolen items. Somewhat of a double standard.

don't have a car on campus

They are becoming more and more strict about underage drinking and pushing students back on campus, which means no more partying off campus.

Public safety does enforce the no drug and alcohol policy but oftentimes it can go unnoticed. It's hard to regulate in the dorms because the RAs typically do not want to get their fellow students in trouble because there are some serious consequences (I knew someone who was suspended for drug use). Illegal alcohol use is less serious - you will probably get "written up". It's not a big deal as long as you're not a repeat offender.

There is an area called Shrewsberry Street. It has so many options and you get plenty of student discounts. They also have an event at the beginning of the year where students can sample food from all these restaurants!

The school is maintained extremely well

Alot of parties. Big nights are Wednesday and Saturday. Although people go out Thursday and Friday too.

Most teams are not very good.
College Freshman 2013-09-26T20:22:00Z
There is not much to do at the College at night. That being said, you can find ways to hang out with friends or create activities, but most people are interested in drinking, which will likely be shut down if it is in an underclassman's dorm. So, unless you play on a sports team or somehow know upperclassmen you will be hopping from dorm to dorm all night. There are also parties off campus but beware of Worcester PD and underclassmen can rarely get in anyways. There is also the 18 & up bar scene in Worcester which will involve $10 for a taxi and $5 cover to get into a bar and not be served drinks
College Freshman 2013-09-26T20:16:59Z
The campus is beautiful, and dorms are nice, all the buildings are either new or in good shape. It is hard to imagine a better facility at which to go to school.
College Senior 2013-07-22T12:21:35Z
Students have "NO RIGHTS" when it comes to living off campus. Everyone wanting to live off campus is subjected to a Nazi-like review process which can take months. despite the fact all students are adults over adults over 18, Holy Cross treats them as children has stripped their rights away.
Most students are not allowed to live off campus after an exhausting 3-6 month review process. This whole process sound illegal to most students and runs completely contrary to what a college or university experience is all about.

Very difficult academics. Students put serious work in Sunday through Thursday and always seem to be studying. This is probably because they spend all afternoon in club and group meetings and all night Friday and Saturday partying. Professors will challenge your viewpoints and are difficult graders in general. You will earn your grades, but there are certain professors and certain majors that are easier. Premed is very competitive as is economics. Professors are very friendly with good office hours and willing to help.

Great majors at Holy Cross. Economics is popular and very tough to get into so usually you have to earn it after freshman year by taking and doing well in ECON classes. Political science, history, English, biology, chemistry, and math also popular. There are a number of interdisciplinary and special studies you can pursue although not a lot of students pursue them (some ALANA minority students pursue majors from their own heritage or background). Premed is very difficult to get into but if you make it through 4 years in the program, you will get into the best med schools in the country such as Harvard and Johns Hopkins

There are three computer labs on campus that are usually only partly full during normal hours as all students have their own computers. The labs can be a bit crowded before class as students do not usually have printers and come in to print. Since wifi is not reliable for the crunch time of picking classes, the labs are usually busy.

Excellent off-campus dining options both in terms of take-out and actually restaurants and bars. Worcester is a college town so there are plenty of places geared towards college students with great prices and portions. There are some great take out places near HC, including King Chef Chinese and Palace Pizza. Most of the decent restaurants, including the classy VIA Italian and Chop House, are on Shrewsbury St. There are some good chain options in Blackstone Valley. HC runs busses on Fridays and Saturdays to both places, but it helps to have a car. If the places were more accessible I'd give this an A+
Sorry, there are no reviews.
