| Advice on Finding a Job/Internship | |
Holy Cross has an amazing network of high-placed alumni, many of whom are eager to help out a fellow Crusader. The Career Planning Office (located in Hogan) provides excellent counseling and helps put students on a track to landing a job after graduation. Visit Career Services early and often! It can’t hurt to stop into the office freshman or sophomore year and begin asking about internship opportunities or about getting into a specific career field. They are wonderful about helping students identify a career path and giving them the tools they need to find a job in that field. Career Planning offers frequent workshops and tutorials in a variety of different areas, including resumé writing, cover letter composition, job seeking, interview skills, and table manners. Career Planning staff have even been known to help students decide what to wear on an interview! Career Planning also sponsors the Summer Internship Program, a truly superb internship program. Using Holy Cross’ network of alumni, parents, and friends, internships have been developed that are designed specifically for Holy Cross students. Although students must apply to this program, the benefits of the program far outweigh the work and effort it takes to put the application together. This is not to imply that the only internships offered by Holy Cross come through the Summer Internship Program. On the contrary, there are hundreds of other internship opportunities available through other Holy Cross alumni and connections.
