College Prowler Take
Alright, so William & Mary isn’t a school for modeling, and the stunningly hot are a select few on campus. Both guys and girls jokingly claim that there’s a shortage of good-looking people of the opposite sex at the college. But while the campus body as a whole isn’t drop dead gorgeous, there is a pool of extremely attractive individuals and a whole bunch of ladies and gentlemen who are just downright cute. If you’re not as concerned about the external features, the guys and girls at W&M are great people and are definitely worth dating. Unlike larger state schools, the party and hook-up scene is not as aggressive and imposing, and the unique people here are sure to have more personality than your typical “bro” or party girl. Both males and females are fairly nice, personality-wise, though you’ll find a mixed group like you will anywhere else. Two things to remember: everyone’s really intelligent, so you find the arrogant guy and girls here and there, and everyone’s slightly dorky, usually in an endearing way. If you’ve gotten in, I’m sorry to inform you, but you’re probably slightly dorky in an endearing way, too. I find everyone to be fairly attractive, and my dad seems to think we have a pretty good-looking female crowd, since he always seems to be encouraging me to date. |

There's Somebody for Everybody
A-
Most people here are intelligent, interesting, and cute. Some people dress very nicely, some throw their sweatpants on. There's somebody for everybody.

Somehow William and Mary got the reputation of being an ugly campus. I've had friends come to visit me knowing that reputation and were pleasantly surprised. We have some beautiful people—beautiful, smart people.

Social Scene
It all starts on the freshman hall. Students often bond strongly with their hall mates and form friendships that last throughout college. Beyond that, most social interaction takes place between people in organizations or classes. Of course, fraternities and sororities, which are big at W&M, are also hubs of social interaction, but joining one isn’t always a free ticket to a thriving social life.
Hookups or Relationships?
There are usually several girls making the “walk of shame” from fraternity row back to their dorm rooms on Saturday and Sunday mornings after a night of hooking up, and they’re not the only ones engaged in these pseudo-relationships. Many students continue hanging out and hooking up with the same person, but wouldn’t call it dating and wouldn’t admit that they’re “together.” On the other end of the spectrum are the practically married couples. They start dating freshman year, and from then on they can’t be separated.
Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls
Many students meet while participating in clubs and organizations, in the biology lab, or in their English class. It’s not to say that W&M students spend all their time doing work or being involved in organizations, but most of them are nerds at heart, and often find that special someone while in the midst of academic pursuit. On the other end of the spectrum are the frats and delis, where students go to party and often find people to hook up with.
Dress Code
In a word—casual. You won't find many William & Mary students dressed to the nines, especially in early morning classes. It is not frowned upon to show up for an 8, 9, or even 10 o'clock class un-showered and wearing pajama pants and an old T-shirt. A long-standing joke on campus is that you can tell when someone needs to do laundry because he or she is dressed up, but there is a small portion of constantly well-coiffed, made-up, Abercrombie-wearing kids. For the most part, however, it's basic jeans and T-shirts for everyone.
