Advice on Finding a Job/Internship
  • Career Services has improved greatly, especially with the addition of the gorgeous Cohen Career Center. There are plenty of department staff members that can help you boost your resume and help you find internships that are best suited for you.
  • Find internships early—some applications are due in November for the next summer. Accept unpaid internships if you have to; the experience is worth the poverty.
  • Once you’ve selected a major, make sure you are on your department’s listserv email. Many departments compile and send out their own list of internships and job opportunities.
Did You Know? Students can create their own internship, which can be for roughly seven hours a week or more, for a semester or longer or that can be done during the summer. The student proposes the project to a faculty person, and they jointly agree on a topic, outline, and references for an academic paper on a topic related to the internship.
