Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Something that is nearly tangible upon arrival at William & Mary is the love students share for their campus, their dedicated teachers, and their fellow student colleagues. The strong sense of community is what appeals to so many students who come from all over the United States (and some other countries, as well—there's a growing British population!) to feel like they have found their home away from home.

When asked if they would choose William & Mary again for their college experience if given a second chance, most students eagerly reply with a "Yes!" The College, though relatively tame and quiet, truly embodies the collegiate experience. It has a gorgeous campus with gardens equipped for lazy, Frisbee-throwing afternoons. It has devoted professors and staff who truly want students to succeed. Most importantly, it has students who have an overarching sense of pride for their school, their friends, and the young men and women William & Mary has helped them become.

Great Friends, Great Academics

I'm an out-of-state student so I came to william and mary knowing no one. Orientation is done very well, and I soon found ~20-30 friends that I hang out with frequently. A lot of my friends back home talk about having trouble getting used to living away from home, but william and mary is very close-knit. Professors actually seem to care about the subject, and whether or not you understand something. Definitely an improvement compared to some other college's classes I've sat in on.

Everything I Wanted and More

I've found all the close personal friendships I hoped for in a smallish school like William & Mary as well as so much that I never could have expected. I anticipated the challenging yet rewarding academics but these surpassed even my estimates. The professors are extremely accessible and grant the school much of its charm. Opportunities for new friendships are endless and it is extremely easy to get involved in any kind of extracurricular organization. Basically, it boils down to a collection of amazing people learning from even more amazing professors all in a spirit of community that does well to distinguish the school from other oft-compared schools (UVA)

Amazing

From the first time I set foot on campus, I knew it was the school for me. Its not too small, not too big, easy to navigate, and it becomes familiar within a day of walking around. The academics are hard, but you learn that grades don't matter as much as learning and doing what is your best and not the person sitting next to you.
