Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

At Wooster, the atmosphere is generally not very strict. RAs, administration, and Security & Protective Services are usually pretty lenient as long as you aren’t a person who is constantly causing problems. If a student gets in trouble, it is usually for something alcohol related: underage drinking, walking outside with an open container, or playing drinking games. If you aren't obvious and try to stay out of trouble, you’ll be fine. Security doesn’t go around campus and search for students to give alcohol tickets to.

In 2011, Wooster hired a new director of Security & Protective Services. This director was formerly the Chief of Police for the Wooster Police Department and has served as a patrol officer, detective, and SWAT team member for more than 24 years. Because of this change, students anticipate that Security & Protective Services will change its easy-going ways and begin to crack down on students.

Could Be Worse

Campus security does bust parties from time to time, but it's not too bad. As long as you don't go too hard, you'll be fine.

Strictness Is Where It Needs to Be

I really like the policy of the school. They enforce laws and security where it needs to be, such as underage drinking etc. The good thing about security is that they don't make you check in anyone who will be staying the night or is visiting with you. It makes having visitors really easy and relaxed. Also, with parties, they will often stop by to make sure nothing bad is happening, then just leave and you can continue on with your party, as long as you're not disrupting surrounding neighbors.

Academic integrity is taken very seriously.

Locking Down on Campus

Campus strictness hasn't really been an issue for many people, but the local police force just joined with campus security, and they're locking things down more than they have been in the past.

Visitation Policies

There aren't any visitation policies at Wooster. Students don't have to sign guests in to dorms or buildings, so it's easy to have friends come stay with you.
