Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The average Wooster student is interested and involved in a number of different activities and organizations. It would be no surprise to hear that your teammate on the basketball team is also a chemistry major and on the school newspaper. It's because of students’ unique combination of interests that unexpected friendships and relationships blossom at the College.

At Wooster, relationships are usually laid-back. People aren’t overly concerned with appearances, and you will often see couples wearing sweatpants, drinking coffee, and studying for midterms together in the library. Although the small college atmosphere gives a relationship a certain level of comfort, it can also put a damper on the romance. Be careful who you talk to about your relationship because before you know it, everyone on campus will know you and your significant other's business.

Guys and Girls

The students here are average looking. It's a small school so when you find someone who's attractive or has a great personality hang on to them because there isn't much out there. The student body is friendly but some students are weirdly pretentious which is odd because this isn't an ivy league. You would think at a liberal arts school the students would be laid back but they aren't. Greek life runs most of the events on campus so you'll find that second semester if you aren't in a greek group or on a sports team the parties are going to be exclusive.

Athletic, Smart, Pretty

Most people are decent looking and fairly athletic, even if they dont play on a varsity sport. We definately have our fair share of weirdos, but if you hang around the right bunch most people are good looking. Guys seem to dress either athletic or in casual style. Girls seem to have a slight bohemian or athletic look.

Facts

Social Scene

Students are very involved at the College of Wooster, which breaks down the traditional barriers of groups and cliques. This isn't to say that cliques don't exist, but because of students' involvement on campus, they are unable to be defined by only one group. Classes, clubs, sports, and organizations bring all different types of students together and help to foster friendships that students might not have found without this interaction.

Hookups or Relationships?

Both random hookups and relationships are part of the dating scene at Wooster, and often relationships begin with a random hookup. Because Wooster is so small, you’re almost guaranteed to see Friday’s one-night stand when you’re walking to class on Monday morning. Plus, the College’s size means that most likely the person that you are dating may have also dated one of your friends your freshman year. But at Wooster, students have become used to this small-school dating scene.

Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls

Most students at Wooster meet through their classes, jobs, or the extracurriculars they do on campus. However, probably one of the best places to meet people tends to be at parties or through friends, not unlike the way the real world works. Just never try to date people in the same dorm as you because it can lead to very awkward living situations.

Dress Code

Casual—you’ll find both guys and girls wearing jeans and T-shirts or even sweatpants to class. Students are concerned about practicality and comfort as they run around all day to class, work, practice, and meals. Girls do get dressed up for parties on the weekends, sporting silky tops and skirts or dresses. Most girls skip heels and stick to flat shoes, though.
