Did You Know? There is a legend at Wooster that if the Kauke Arch can be completely filled with snow during the night, all classes will be canceled the next day. Although classes have never actually been canceled as a result, year after year, students take part in this fun tradition. And when the arch is successfully filled, even if classes aren't canceled, students often take a personal day to reward themselves.

Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Weather in Wooster, Ohio can take some getting used to if you come from a consistent climate. Wooster experiences all four seasons, but that doesn't mean that the weather is predictable. People will tell you that the weather is wacky in Ohio, and they are right. It is usually hot and fairly humid in the summer, and cold and snowy in the winter. During spring and fall, however, the season seems to change on a whim. One minute it will be 75F outside, and the humidity will make the sweat drip off your face, and the next day it will be 57F, and you’ll need to bring out the long sleeves.

Students should come prepared for all weather. But remember that everything you need on campus is only a 10-minute walk from your dorm, so the weather never gets in the way of life at Wooster. You should invest in snow boots, a warm winter jacket, and a hat or scarf—because Ohio is flat, the bitter cold wind whips around in the winter. Rain boots are a good idea for the spring, and don't forget a fan to put in your room for the warm days!

The weather changes approximately every five minutes. It's nice to see the seasons change, though

It's Ohio

You are going to get all four seasons. The fall is by far my favorite. Campus looks wonderful in autumn colors.

It's Ohio, so it's pretty crazy and impossible to predict. Rain one day, sunshine the next, and snow after that is not unusual. Don't be upset if it's gray and rainy for weeks on end.
