The feelings are mixed about the drug scene at CC. While some students wholeheartedly believe that “you can’t be an alcoholic until after you graduate,” CC students sometimes demonstrate patterns of problem drinking, including binge drinking and drinking heavily on class nights. At the same time, most students confine their drinking to the weekends, and then to under five drinks. A large group of CC students never use drugs other than alcohol, and many say that they’re not even remotely interested in trying them. Unlike at some colleges, “No” does mean “No” at CC. This doesn’t mean, however, that drug use is “low,” even relative to other college campuses. After alcohol, the drug of choice seems to be pot. Marijuana is a hugely popular drug, used frequently in residence halls in the early afternoon hours. Students can buy pot without any problems, and lax enforcement of drug policies makes it an even more attractive option. Harder drugs, such as cocaine, are no harder to come by, but are far less visible on the campus.

Drinking Is Pretty Popular
B+
You can drink any night you want, school events even allow drinking for 21 and up. Only seniors live off campus so they host the parties and put together senior party calendars for 1st and 8th Block. Coke is big in certain crowds, but if you aren't in those crowds you won't know people do it. Otherwise people smoke pot, just like at any other college. Probably in similar amounts to schools like CC. I don't do drugs and didn't find it a problem either way. But I drink and found opportunities to have fun and also nights where I could get away from it.

Work Hard, Party Hard.
C
Drugs are widely used and accepted at CC, but I (and most students) maintain that the students do a good job of balancing working hard and partying hard. Weed is very popular and easily accessible. Also, a lot of students experiment occasionally with "harder" drugs such as acid, mushrooms, and ecstasy. Though alcohol and marijuana are widely (and okay, sometimes excessively) used, people are really laid back and it's totally accepted to abstain from these activities.

Lots of People Smoke Weed, and House Parties Are Common
A
In my opinion, the drug scene is perfect at Colorado College. I don't personally use, and I think that's the case with most people on campus. But, I'm sure it's possible to get ahold of drugs if you want them. Weed is especially easy to come by, and even though it's "not permitted" a lot of people smoke in their rooms or even outside. You will at least get written up, though, if you're caught. I really like the college's policy on alcohol. You're not allowed to drink in the hallway, but you're allowed to have two open beers per person in your room. Depending on your RA, you may or may not get written up for drinking games or drinking in the hall way. They're usually pretty relaxed if your respectful. Off-campus parties are especially nice because the local police are very chill; they never give out tickets when they bust parties unless someone's especially disrespectful or is carrying an open container on the street.

"The Campus Sets Sail With Green Smokestacks on the Weekends"
C-
This quote from my professor adequately describes the drug scene. Drugs, especially pot and cocaine abound at CC, especially on the weekends. However, it does not seem to interfere with the student's academic performance and it is definitely avoidable.
