College Prowler Take
As a group, the girls at CC are a far cry from the blond bombshells that seem to flock to schools in nearby Arizona and California, and the CC guys are about as different from their Ivy League counterparts as can be. This doesn’t mean, however, that the student body isn’t generally attractive, both physically and otherwise. Girls and guys both are athletic and outdoorsy, and most students seem to have a glow about them that can only come from the Rocky Mountain air. CC girls save the lipstick and mascara for the parties, and tend to opt for an earthy, natural look. The guys will complain about this apparent lack of effort at times, usually while sporting ratty sweatpants and a torn T-shirt from the nearby thrift shop. Queer life on campus is thriving, as well, as most everyone can find a special someone who appeals to their personality and taste. Students value comfort more than fashion here, and, despite complaints, most are happy with the potential for relationships. CC students are a fun-loving bunch—the Block Plan puts a huge workload on their shoulders, but they’re always ready to toss their books to the birds and have a good time. CC offers something for all tastes. There are hotties, notties, and a whole range of people comfortably in between. If you’re coming to school to find a trophy wife, go to California, and if you’re coming here in hopes of hooking a rich, preppy husband, you’ll have more luck at the eastern Ivy Leagues.

The people at CC are some of the chillest people around. It isn't really about looks for most people given the fact that nearly everyone's personality is so big.

The guys are cool, for the most part. There isn’t a lot of dating at CC because people tend to have very casual hook ups or super-serious relationships. |

The great thing about the students is that most of them are athletic, smart, and motivated. They’re not all hot, but that’s not always the most important thing. |

I’ve always said that we’re an ‘outdoorsy’ school, and the rugged, tough male seems to be a much more attractive type than the rugged female who doesn’t shower or shave. With that being said, I think for a school of only 2000 students we do pretty well. And the girls you meet can actually carry on a conversation, which I guess counts for something. |

The people on campus are pretty nice. The girls range in ‘hotness,’ but the overall attractiveness leaves something to be desired. CC is not well-known for its female beauty, but it can be found. Many times the men will find themselves substituting attitude for looks. |
FactsBirth Control Available?
Yes - Boettcher Health Center provides prescriptions for birth control pills and patches, and makes condoms available. The C Store also has condoms for sale.
Social Scene
The social scene consists largely of off-campus house parties and keg parties at the fraternities. Both usually offer cramped, hot houses and long lines for beer. Students can usually put up with these weekend bashes for their first two years, but grow tired of them eventually. On the upside, the new on-campus apartments offer new venues for smaller, more personal get-togethers. Lax security ensures that these shindigs are rarely busted. The laid-back attitude of most CC students allows for easy socializing, and freshman usually develop a close circle of friends quickly enough to start touring the party scene in groups. For the non-party scene, there are always alternative options available, from "mocktail" events to dance parties to competitions determining the ultimate world champion in foosball.
Hookups or Relationships?
A recent campus newspaper student poll revealed that if CC is lacking in one thing, it's relationship material. One-night hookups and brief flings are the norm, and serious relationships are the odd exception. You'll rarely hear students complaining out loud, though. Most seem happy with the promiscuous, take-it-as-it-comes lifestyle that the CC party scene promotes.
Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls
Student clubs are not only a great way to get involved in activities, but they're also a fairly reliable dating service—free of charge. Many clubs and organizations sponsor social events for their members and, not surprisingly, long, healthy relationships often start there. Other great options are the myriad of outdoor activities that CC sponsors: backpacking, ice-climbing, and mountain biking. Evidently, if you can spend four days with somebody without luxuries like showers and deodorant, you can spend at least a few years with them in civilization.
Dress Code
"Outdoorsy" is the best way to describe the CC image. The "granola" crowd always makes itself seen with patched corduroy pants and dreadlocks. The Birkenstock and tie-dye image doesn't hold true for all students, but it would certainly seem to be the average. The guys seem to have taken a t-shirt and jeans pledge for most of the fall and all of the spring, while the girls take advantage of sunny days to sport tank tops. During the winter, Columbia fleece jackets and wool beanies are in vogue. At first glance, students seem to place almost no importance on fashion, but on closer examination their brand-name jeans and their oh-so-slightly tussled hair give them away as an upscale crowd.
