| Advice on Finding a Job/Internship | |
Colorado College’s faculty and staff make it an explicit goal to prepare their students for "the real world." Their philosophy is that you can teach students everything you want, but if they don’t know how to get a job, that information is pretty worthless. The Career Center is arguably the most important resource for any CC student. Located on the second floor of the Worner Center, this office is chock-full of internship and job listings, résumé-writing manuals, and friendly people who are always willing to help. The key to getting a good job or internship—be it for the summer or the rest of your life—is to actually use all of these resources. Take advantage of everything, even the people; they’re there to help, so talk to them, and ask any questions you have, no matter how mundane. You never know where a random conversation could lead you. The Career Center also assists students in preparing for and applying to graduate school programs.

- On-campus jobs are well-paying and pretty easy to come by if you look early enough. During the first block of each year, financial aid recipients are given priority to apply for jobs. After this period, anyone can apply for an on-campus job. In addition, there are a number of work-study programs with local non-profit organizations for financial aid recipients.
- Most students don't have off-campus jobs, but those that do generally work at small restaurants (Starbucks, etc.) or have internships with local organizations like the courthouse or schools.
- Being a resident advisor (RA) in student housing requires a big commitment, but pays very well. The RA application process is generally very competitive.
