College Prowler Take
Nightlife at CC can be divided into two categories—nightlife created by students and nightlife in Colorado Springs. The former can be entertaining, if somewhat repetitive and the latter, well, the latter hardly exists. On- and near-campus nightlife constitutes the majority of nocturnal activities for the average CC student. On-campus parties can be held in the dorms or in the new apartments, and due to lax security they rarely get busted. In upperclassman dorms like Mathias, suite-style accommodations make for perfect, self-contained parties, whereas students must pack themselves into single rooms in other buildings. Fraternities put on most off-campus parties, though usually not in their fraternity houses. The wildest parties are always those of Sigma Chi, whereas the most selective parties are generally the work of FIJI, whose brothers have been known to hire thuggish looking bouncers for invitation-only parties. Each fraternity sponsors a few theme parties each year, and these always end up being some of the most entertaining of the year. Otherwise, fraternity house parties are crowded and students generally leave sweaty and disoriented—but with smiles on their faces. City nightlife is hardly worth mentioning. The town of Colorado Springs, if it can ever be said to be alive at night, dies by midnight or 1 a.m. There are a few jewels, such as Jack Quinn, an Irish pub with live music every Thursday. Rum Bay is the only close night club, but merits a visit only when students are absolutely fed up with college parties. Apart from these few hot spots, students find it difficult to keep themselves entertained off campus. By the time they become seniors, many students have sworn off participating in nightly activities of any kind, though these pledges are usually forgotten come Friday night.

The parties on campus are usually preceded by plenty of pre-partying in the dorms. Seniors hold most of the off-campus parties and they usually have themes. The bars in town can be a lot of fun, from Thursday nights at Jack Quinn’s to Margarita Mondays at Panino’s. |

I don’t really know about the bars. I haven’t had the urge to go to any of them. |

Parties are a lot of fun, but they almost always get overcrowded, especially in winter when nobody wants to stand outside. I have nothing to say about the ‘bar scene’ in Colorado Springs, though. |

Parties on campus are always a lot of fun. There are always theme parties where students dress up crazy. There’s often dancing at campus parties. Bars in Colorado Springs are decent, especially the Ritz and Jack Quinn’s. |

I’ve been to parties where I thought I was going to suffocate. Other than that, though, the parties can be a lot of fun. |
