Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Columbia College is Chicago's best-kept secret. The College can be a great asset for many students, but it's important to remember that Columbia is what it is—an art school specializing in media art. It is one of the fastest paced colleges in the United States, with some of the most up-to-date technologies on the market. It is a place that will make or break you. When you come to Columbia, you will either work harder than you have in your entire life and become somebody, or you will realize that you have another dream. Columbia will not joke around with you. Everything here is very real. Everywhere you go on campus unconsciously puts off an energy uttering the phrase, "roll up your sleeves and get to work." In every classroom, faculty member, and assignment, there is truth to your work and how your life will be if you truly want to work in the field you have come to Chicago to study. Coming to Columbia is an investment in your future and worth every penny you shell out of your pocket.

Columbia students work hard. There is passion in what they do. On the weekends, yes, they go out with friends, but more than likely what they are talking about is not how the football team did, or what happened to so and so—it's about projects, life, ideas, film shoots, pictures, shows, and stories. This is a grown-up campus committed to getting you where you want to be, but only if you are willing to put in the work.

Hipsters Think They Are Cool.

The reason I enrolled in Columbia College was because I wanted to become a Sports Journalist and I knew that was the program that had many networking and career opportunities. I apparently was 1 of 15 students at the school who felt the same way.

Columbia College is full of a bunch of rich kids who didn't want to go to college but their parents forced them too. They get drunk and party all night in their dorms that their parents paid for and come to class high. There is not many bars by Columbia, but the hipsters like to trash everything in sight. I went to one party and I had enough. All it is, is underage drinking with people who think they are cool. I was too busy working to care about their problems.

Not Much Selection, but I Love Panera Mac+Cheese.

Columbia has a few selections of restaurants such as Dunkin Donuts, Dairy Queen, Subway, and a newly opened Panda Express. It has options but you get tired of them after 3 years. No complaints though. I give the dining a B- because there is a 7/11 and you can never go wrong with 7/11. Convenient random food that you always want; and of course Panera Bread. Panera Bread has delicious Mac and Cheese and I could not stop eating it. I just kept ordering it and ordering it. I mostly went grocery shopping at Aldi to save a lot of money, but once a week I would always get that five dollar mac and cheese. I was really depressed in college because I had to work to jobs and never received any scholarships to help. I was all alone. It i sad to say, but at that time in my life, the mac and cheese was my happiest moment.

Never Tried the Campu Dining.

Columbia is ridiculously expensive. I graduated but because I didn't want to have to take more classes then I had to. I never tried thier campus food because I had my own apartment, lived broke and shopped at Aldi. That's what you have to do, when it's impossible to receive a scholarship.
