Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Don’t bring a car. There is no parking on campus, and local garages are very expensive. Those used to owning a car might find the inability to drive to be off-putting, but after a while, it is a blessing. There is very little street parking near campus, so those who do drive to school often have to park upwards of 20 blocks away.

It is not worth the heartache or expense to bring a car to Columbia. Bringing a car is like taking your mom on a first date. It’s a nice idea, but the reality could be disastrous. When you need a car fix, take a cab or go to your friend’s house in New Jersey for the weekend.

Walk / Subway

Most people do not own a car. People mostly walk or take a subway to campus. These are fast and efficient ways to get to campus and make car ownership unnecessary and parking struggle nonexistent.

No Parking

Terrible parking situation. No Columbia lots, but there are garages which can run $50-75 dollars per day. HORRIBLE. Columbia offers no parking of its own.
