I am very satisfied with the education I am receiving. I have learned a lot from my professors and I feel that all of them are teaching in their areas of expertise so we get the best type of education. We do not only getting a text book education but real life stories to explain the material we are learning in the book. I've had the chance to get to know each and every one of my professors on a personal level. They know who I am, I am not just another one of their students in a class room. This is extremely helpful for the future.

The process of getting into my psychology major was very easy. When I enrolled into the school I put on my application my intended major. For my school when you are a first year student you do not get to pick your first semesters classes the school will and since I put down I was a psychology major they made sure I was in a psychology 101. After the first semester was over students were able to pick the classes they were interested in by sitting with an guidance counselor and picking the classes required for the students intended major.

Parking can be challenging in the middle of the day. The freshmen are not allowed to have a car on campus do to the lack of spaces available. However, they can rent a car is they wish. The school is rather persistent with ensuring everyone is parked in the right zone. Just don't show up last minute to class and expect to get a spot close to your class.

I'm finding people from all kinds of background here. Sure there is a great influence in people of status because of the area the school is located in but all are welcome.

I wouldn't say this school is heaven but this school is definitely dedicated to providing the facilities to get the job done.

The parking lot is FAR and expensive to have a car! I had to have one though! It's a must living in California!

I loved the Communication Program. It taught me so much about life and myself. It lead me to my true passion. I would completely do it all over again.

Each dorm room had there own bathroom and small common area! No Shared bathrooms! There was also close free laundry! Awesome! At Concordia, anything you dream is possible. It is a smaller school that is constantly starting new clubs and sports/activities based on their students!

No help that I know of from the school, but there are a TON of cool apartments close and a little bit further from school. It all depends on if you want to live near campus or the beach! Either way, as long as you have a few roommates the price is fine, parking is limitless (WAY more than at school!!!)

Underage drinking and drug use was strict... so they said. Most of the time the RA's were worse than the students they were with. There was nothing done to really enforce this rule. However, the consequences are pretty harsh. Losing housing, any grants, letters to home, and even being kicked out of school. Remember RA's are only your friends until their lives are affected and they will not be on your side. Just be careful and everything should be fine!

It is almost purely good because it is a dry campus. It's something I'm proud of.

All of the professors and staff help assist the students to pursue their goals. I really like how the system is set up to help students.

I love how the professors care about the students and have a one on one meeting.

Guys & Girls:
There is little to no variety in terms of people's looks and style. People are very into the Christian style of dressing.

The weather is excellent in Irvine. The great weather is one of the reasons I chose to come to Concordia.

The parking is horrible at Concordia. It was extremely hard to find and people race around to try and find a spot, most times almost leading to accidents. As a woman, it is extremely hard to walk from the parking lot at night to the dorm rooms or the classrooms.

Southern California weather is consistent an warm.

Irvine is a coastal community with several activities geared towards the students.

Health & Safety:
Concordia has a strong security campus presence. I have never felt unsafe at Concordia.

I'm not one to push the limits of breaking school policies. However, there has not been much complaint over school policies. I do remember that one kid said that he was over the school regulations, partly for being in trouble over using alcohol, but that may be because a new zero tolerance of alcohol was recently added. As far as I know, the people are happy campers.

Athletics are important at the school but it is a subculture. For it seems like athletics are incorporated with your college tuition. Either you come to Concordia to be apart of it or you come to focus more narrowly on your major. There are other play leagues for those who are interested in playing in recreational sports. But not much buzz about them. For those who have made sports become a part of their education, there is also an exhilarating chapel service that caters to them. Athletics are fun, but they aren't everything to everyone. Nevertheless, there seems to be a few major sporting events every week.

The technology at Concordia will get the job done. The thing is though, eventually it will get done. I'm that last minute turn in assignment guy, and when I am using the library for printing it takes awhile for the computer to load and for the printer to receive the document I sent. For the most part the wi-fi works in every room. Again, nothing fancy.

I am very happy with my choice of major. International Studies is a bit like a hybrid between History and Political Science. My classes explain why the world is the way it is and educate me about the historical events and ideas that have real relevance to the modern era (a class in Islamic Civilization, anyone?). The best part about my major, though, is the study abroad requirement. To be prepared to face our globalizing society, we have to be aware of cultural differences and able to navigate them. This is the most valuable thing I learned being an IS major, and is something that businesses are really looking for nowadays. The only difficulty with my major is its wide applicability. I can apply the things I've learned almost anywhere, which makes narrowing down the field challenging at times.

There are three computer lab options on campus. The Mac Lab gives you access to the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc), which comes in handy sometimes.
Printing is not free, and can be a hassle if you're in a hurry. Though most classes allow big assignments to be turned in on Blackboard, it is more convenient to bring your own printer.
Wifi is all over campus, and is relatively reliable. Most people bring their own computer, and many (like me) use them for note-taking during class.

Concordia University Irvine is a dry campus, and has been for about a year or so. This doesn't mean that everyone is a teetotaler, but it does mean that if you want to drink, you have to be off campus, and you can't come back to campus drunk. Personally, I don't like that kind of partying, so this works wonderfully for me :)
Sorry, there are no reviews.
