Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Maybe it’s Connecticut College’s history as a former all-girl’s school, or maybe just pure chance, but the ratio of guys to girls is about forty to sixty. Translation: guys have good odds here for a love connection, or at least a hookup. More often than not, Conn students aren’t looking for long-term relationships, but serious relationships can develop from random hookups. Dances at Cro provide more than ample opportunity for both sexes to find a potential hookup buddy. If you like to take it slow in relationships, however, Conn may not be the place for you. Conn’s small size and plentiful single rooms could effectively make you roommates with your new boyfriend/girlfriend before you know it.

Judging solely from student response, Conn guys, on the whole, are not hot, while Conn girls are more attractive than average. Both sexes care about their appearance; few stumble into class wearing crumpled clothes found under the bed. The dress code is decidedly preppy, and a group of students on campus can sometimes resemble a J.Crew ad. Then again, there is a significant portion of students who defy this edict and wear whatever they like. It all comes down to personal comfort. On the whole, Conn is a good-looking campus as long as your tastes don’t skew goth or punk. If so, you’re pretty much out of luck. It should be said that most students at Conn, guys and girls, are friendly and outgoing people.

Pretty and Preppy

Girls here are really good looking and care a lot about their appearance. Boys are decent, but nothing really special. There is definitely a majorly preppy vibe as most people are wealthy and from New England, but there are lots of other groups who do their own thing. There is a place here for everyone.

Conn Guys Are Cute

Guys at Conn are somewhat feminine and really cute. Most of them tend to be skinny and good looking. As Conn is a school for the richest kids of New England, you prob will see well-dressed preppy guys all around campus.

Facts

Hookups or Relationships?

Hookups abound at Conn. If you looking for them, all you need is stumble to a Cro dance after the liquor starts flowing. An influx of Coast Guard Cadets looking for some action increases your chances. Of course, it is possible to start lasting relationships at Conn.

Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls

If you're looking for a relationship, the best way to meet someone is to join a club, organization, sports team—anything to get out of your room and meeting people. Conn is a pretty diverse school in terms of interests, so it helps to know that you have at least one common interest with the guy/girl you have your eye on. Conn parties are another way to go about this, but chances are you'll be too sloshed to make a lasting impression. Assuming you have someone you want to ask out, but are too shy, you could always try inviting him or her to your dorm’s Crush Party. Here’s how they work: you’ll get two tickets, one for you and one to send anonymously to your crush. Several dorms take part in each Crush Party, so if everyone participated, there would be a good turnout. Unfortunately, no one ever does, so don’t count on a Crush Party changing the fact that your crush doesn’t know you’re alive.

Dress Code

There is no escaping the fact that Conn is a preppy school. At times, it feels like J.Crew and Abercrombie and Fitch are the school's mandatory uniform.
