Converse College is a women's college, but that's not what sets it apart from other schools: it's the students' love for the College that makes it stand out. The school has a lot going for it. Students repeatedly point out that Converse’s academics are top-notch, especially its well-known music school. The students also feel that professors are dedicated to their academic advancement inside and outside of class. In addition to its academics, Converse offers an excellent campus community; women generally like and trust one another and feel safe on campus. The community also has many different traditions that make students feel closer to one another, more like sisters than classmates.

However, Converse has its disadvantages, the main one being the limited social life on and off campus. There are few good parties or other events on campus, and to make it worse, most students go home on the weekends. The town of Spartanburg is fine for shopping and food, but it seriously lacks in good places to hang out. The major bar in Spartanburg is Wild Wings, which means that you’re pretty limited if you want to get out and party. Yet, depending on what you’re looking for, Converse can be a great school for you. If you’re looking for an active and vibrant social life and some great parties, you might want to consider another school in another town. If you want to develop academically and professionally as well as find lifelong friends, then you should absolutely consider coming to Converse. Its traditions and academics are both spectacular.
