Converse CollegeCampus Housing Summary

Housing is in a bit of a shuffle. The freshman dorm Morris Hall closed in the fall of 2010, and The Heath apartments opened in January 2011. In the coming years, there is bound to be a shift in who lives where, as the majority of upperclassmen will be moving to the senior apartments. This shift means that some dorms that have been traditionally designated as upperclassman residences will open up to freshmen and sophomores.

Kate and Howard, the new senior apartments that collectively make up "The Heath," are brand-new and are by far the nicest rooms on campus. The next nicest dorm building is the suite-style Belk. Belk and the other dorms on campus are older buildings, which can be both an advantage and a disadvantage when it comes to room sizes; you can either end up with a spacious room or a cramped one. Converse’s campus is small enough that the dorms are well within walking distance to the other buildings. There is also an active social scene in the dorms. Since Converse is a residential college (unless you meet the qualifications to live off campus), the majority of students lives on campus. In addition to the population aspect contributing to social life in dorms, individual floors of all the dorms host meetings and events almost weekly. Even if you do end up in a less than desirable dorm, you’ll have plenty of company.
