| Advice on Finding a Job/Internship | |
If you qualify for work study, finding a job on campus is pretty easy. It may not be your dream job, but you will earn money. If you don't qualify for work study, things can be much more challenging, as most campus jobs are reserved for students who do qualify. Your best bet is to make connections with staff members who work for programs or departments where you have an interest. The biannual phonathon is also a good way to make money, but the job can be pretty miserable.
Cornell is really great at helping students find internships. The Cornell Fellows Program places students in internships both nationally and internationally and provides a stipend to cover living expenses. The Career Services Center and the Spring Break Externship program also provide opportunities for internships. Start looking several months in advance and follow up on any applications you submit.
