Best Ways to Get to the Airport Your best (and cheapest) bet is to have a friend drive you. There are shuttles available from the airport, with easy online registration, but it will cost you about $20 each way.

Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Cornell’s campus is easily walkable, with a trip from one end to the other taking less than 10 minutes. This makes campus shuttles completely unnecessary; it would actually take longer to wait for a shuttle and ride to the other side of campus. Public transportation is also non-existent in Mount Vernon. As a town of about 3,000 residents, it’s simply superfluous. Transportation around town is primarily accomplished by walking, riding a bike, or driving. Most students come to campus with a vehicle, and those who don’t have a friend who does.

Shuttles are available to the Eastern Iowa Airport, located just 20 minutes away in Cedar Rapids. It serves four airlines, and you can get to most major cities and find connecting flights from there. Cheaper air fare can be found out of the Quad City International Airport in Moline, Illinois, about an hour southeast of Cornell.

Long Distance Trasportation

If you have a friend that has a car you can get the rides from that person if you want to go in the city. The school doesn not provide shuttles very often because they are booked. So if you have a friend with a car, use that person.

Transportation

Transportation at Cornell is nearly obsolete. There are a few programs which allow people to go out on the weekends to malls or amusement parks or movie theaters. The only way to travel when you want to is to bring a car on campus or have friends who have cars.

Transportation Is Limitted

Transportation is limited, there's no bus or shuttle in the area. However, during each block break, there's always free shuttle taking students to mall or recreation places (skiing, bowling etc.)so that's good. I mean people can always find a ride if necessary.
