Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The weather at Cornell is typical for the Midwest. Summer is hot and humid, often with highs around the 100-degree mark and heat indices soaring above that. Fall weather can start as early as mid-September, and it brings with it temperatures ranging from 30 to 70 degrees and about as many rainy days as sunny ones.

Snow flurries can start flying in October, but real winter doesn’t usually set in until late November or early December. With it comes lots of snow, and it's not unusual for the ground to be white from November to late March. Ice storms are a common occurrence and temps can plunge to the negative teens, with wind chills well below that. Despite the crummy winter weather, classes are rarely canceled due to snow or cold. Many Cornell professors live within walking distance of campus and take advantage of this convenience when the roads are bad. Spring is the most pleasant of the four seasons at Cornell. Though it brings its share of rain, even temperatures in the 50s feel warm after the bitter cold of winter. Layers are key for this time of year because the temperature can fluctuate as much as 40 degrees over the course of a single day.

I Like the Weather Here

Winter, summer, spring, fall are all so different. They are 4 distinctive seasons here in Cornell. I love it. Even though it changes a lot and quite sudden, but that's the way weather works!! You always experience something new with the change of weather, whether you hate it or not.
