Campus Dining is first-rate and compensates for the hefty meal plan pricing. Hardly any students have qualms with it. Diversity of selection is impressive, and the all-you-can-eat facilities offer a variety of buffet assortments: deli, pasta bar, grill, stir-fry, chef's corner, Kosher corner, waffles, salad bar, smoothies, and freshly-baked desserts. The atmosphere is very pleasant and conducive to a refreshing social experience. Each dining hall has a unique atmosphere. Ivy Room, for example, has a jukebox that plays loud old-time favorites. Cascadeli offers balcony seating overlooking downtown Ithaca and Cayuga Lake in the distance. Appel Commons also provides an outdoor dining area which is open in the warmer months. Furthermore, special Cross Country Gourmet occasions take place at a variety of dining halls over the course of the semester, introducing students to marvelously exotic cuisines prepared by some of the world's leading chefs.
Chefs at the dining halls really take pride in their work and reputation, and they keep students happy and coming back for more. Even those who live off campus are continually tempted to visit on-campus eateries for all-you-can-eat dinners and Sunday brunch. A caveat: with great food and unlimited portions, many students quickly put on the Freshman 15. Thanks to the Cornell fitness centers, you can justify your indulgences.
