Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Campus Dining is first-rate and compensates for the hefty meal plan pricing. Hardly any students have qualms with it. Diversity of selection is impressive, and the all-you-can-eat facilities offer a variety of buffet assortments: deli, pasta bar, grill, stir-fry, chef’s corner, Kosher corner, waffles, salad bar, smoothies, and freshly-baked desserts. The atmosphere is very pleasant and conducive to a refreshing social experience. Each dining hall has a unique atmosphere. Ivy Room, for example, has a jukebox that plays loud old-time favorites. Cascadeli offers balcony seating overlooking downtown Ithaca and Cayuga Lake in the distance. Appel Commons also provides an outdoor dining area which is open in the warmer months. Furthermore, special Cross Country Gourmet occasions take place at a variety of dining halls over the course of the semester, introducing students to marvelously exotic cuisines prepared by some of the world’s leading chefs.

Chefs at the dining halls really take pride in their work and reputation, and they keep students happy and coming back for more. Even those who live off campus are continually tempted to visit on-campus eateries for all-you-can-eat dinners and Sunday brunch. A caveat: with great food and unlimited portions, many students quickly put on the Freshman 15. Thanks to the Cornell fitness centers, you can justify your indulgences.

Great

I'd say the eaterys around campus are better than most colleges. Trillium offers the best options for lunch and everything is reasonably priced.

Many Options and Pretty Good Food

Cornell has 10 all-you-care-to-eat dining halls, and many other eateries scattered around campus. I personally like the food better at school than I do at home, because there's almost always something I'd love to eat... so beware of the Freshman 15 (never thought it could ever happen to someone who was as skinny as i was... it certainly did though!) There are also many different meal plans to choose from, the only problem is that when you live on West Campus, you are required to have an unlimited meal plan (which I don't care for since I don't need to eat that much and I also work at a job 4 times a week that feeds me).

Eat Till Ya Pop

The dining halls always have a variety of foods and are very diverse in food choice. They have foods for people with special dietary needs as well, such as kosher and vegetarian. You are bound to be full after a full course meal with excellent dessert at any all you care to eat dining hall. They also have quick cafes and a light night grocery store/food mart for when you get the middle-of-the-night munchies.

The Hot Truck, located on the 600 block of Stewart Avenue behind Cornell’s west campus dorms, is a traditional hot spot that opens at 10 p.m. and closes at 2:30 a.m. for post-party, late-night snacks.

Louie’s Lunch, right across from Risley Hall on north campus, promotes a similar concept; opened daily for lunch until 3 a.m.

Your meal plan comes with a set amount of Big Red Bucks, a declining balance account you use can use at eateries; you can add to it anytime throughout the semester.

The award-winning Cross Country Gourmet Guest Restaurant Series brings chefs, menus, and atmospheres from America’s most influential restaurants to you in Cornell’s dining rooms.
