Social Scene
Cornell's diverse student body affords the chance for various unique interactions with many groups of guys and girls from a wide array of different backgrounds. It's not hard to meet friendly students with similar interests as yours. In general, the people at Cornell are very social, and you'll always find fraternity parties and bars packed to the brim with a very good ratio of guys to girls.
Hookups or Relationships?
At Cornell, you'll find a little bit of everything: a lot of non-committal, random hookups as well as many serious, long-term relationships. If you're looking for an evening fling, it's not hard to find, especially at an after-hours fraternity party. Interestingly, an estimated 75 percent of couples who leave Cornell together end up getting married. So if you're still in that relationship at graduation, then carefully consider the possibilities of a wedding in the near future!
Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls
Meeting guys and girls is not difficult at Cornell, especially since you'll find yourself in close-knit groups during sections and seminars. Initially for freshmen, the best place to meet is in the dorms and at the dining halls which promote a relaxed and social ambiance. Parties, although less conducive to good conversation, are also places to meet people. Collegetown and Ithaca bars, like the Chapter House, are popular student hangouts as well.
Dress Code
Most students dress down for class, favoring warmer, bulkier clothing in the cold Ithaca weather. When going out, fashions range from casual to dressy. Fraternities and sororities have semi-annual formal events, which necessitate fancier clothing.
