Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Off-campus dining options are substantial. Most students are very pleased with Ithaca’s offerings and find a variety of food types available—American, International, fast food, sit-down restaurants, coffee shops, and bars. In addition to its many restaurants, Ithaca Commons hosts food festivals, including Apple Fest and Chilifest.

Collegetown, which is within waking distance from central campus and most student residences, also has an impressive selection of restaurants. Pricing varies from place to place, but it isn’t typically exorbitant. Ithaca offers not only a variety of foods within close proximity of the Cornell campus, but also many restaurants that serve organic or ethically-purchased food.

Great Variety

There are tons of places to eat off campus at Cornell. When the dining halls become a tad too familiar, my friends and I either walk to Collegetown where there are dozens of quaint, unique places to eat, or hop in the car and go to more typical, chain restaurants. Food is not hard to find, and it is easy to get just what you're craving.

Better Than NYC Dining?

With more restaurants per capita than NYC, the surrounding city of Ithaca offers amazing choices and a huge variety of cuisines and atmospheres and price ranges. I've yet to have a dinner in town that I didn't like. Louie's Lunch, Collegetown Bagels, Collegetown Pizza, Waffle Frolic and yes, Wegman's, are great for midnight munchies while places like Sushi Sake and Madeline's are perfect for date night or having a sit-down dinner with parents.
