Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

If you want to toke up, it’s here—just don’t expect everyone else to join you. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of prevalent drug users running around. Face it: Creighton students pay a lot a year to live and be educated here. They are not melting all of their brain cells on coke, and most don’t really have time on their breaks from studying psychoneurobiology to smoke a joint. There is some marijuana use, but it generally happens in conjunction with weekend parties and doesn’t seem to be a big pressure. Even meth, the Midwestern drug of choice, doesn’t seem to have soaked too deeply into the fibers of campus life.

Alcohol is easily the drug of choice for Creighton students, and it appears that the majority of them have puked in the bushes outside Kiewit Hall at least once. Drinking is about as common as wearing shoes, even among the underage students. Without a doubt, some students may feel pushed into drinking, but many others say they have no problem finding fun without ever cracking open a cold one. For those who want to party without passing out, volunteering to be designated driver is always a safe route. Either way, what seems most important of all is that both illicit drugs and heavy alcohol use is sheltered from even those around them—meaning what little drug use there is stays in control or out of sight.

Lack of Drugs

There are almost no drugs at Creighton, but then again you can always get something through the right people. Drinking is much more popular, but it's not a very big problem at all. Creighton students generally know how to keep their cool.
