Greek is neither the alpha nor the omega of Creighton social life, but it does offer at least an iota of entertainment. A fairly significant portion of the student population is affiliated with a Greek organization. Considering how involved students are in all activities, that’s no surprise. Anyone who comes to campus expecting big sorority houses and the type of Greek system at state schools will be completely disappointed. Creighton’s system is so watered-down that belonging to a sorority or fraternity, for most people, is more like belonging to any other club—it’s not their entire social circle nor focus of daily life. There aren’t big, University-sanctioned houses or loud raucous rituals. The most obvious Greek activities on campus are usually philanthropic events. The Greek system at Creighton is one that promotes social involvement without the pressure of living like a sorority or fraternity member. In many cases, Creighton’s Greeks’ biggest bond is a dedication to service and academics. It seems many of the groups are as much united to do volunteer projects together as to get drunk together. And, while you will probably know people who are Greek, it is possible to know them for a long time before realizing it, since Greeks just aren’t all that Greek-centered. There are some students who will determinedly decry the Greek crowd, and there are some who will never see beyond their letter sweaters, but Greek life at Creighton really depends on the individual fraternity or sorority member—it can either be everything to them or just a hobby.

We have a small but active Greek life, and many students are Greek. The sororities host lots of events like dodgeball tournaments and other stuff like that. The frats are always good for a party on Friday or Saturday night.

Greek life is big. Some frats are more intense than others, but the big three are the only ones that have parties and that I will consider joining. The rest are less than desirable.

Greek life is a factor at Creighton, but it definitely isn't everything. I tried rushing and realized it wasn't for me, so I joined a service fraternity instead, which is guys and girls and gives me a way to get service done while meeting new people. If you're not into Greek life, no worries.

I am a pledge, and Greek life is a significant part of life on campus. There are very high standards for Greeks here, and it is one of the better Greek scenes in the country.

Greek life is prominent on Creighton's campus. There are certain connotations to being Greek, but, honestly, I'm Greek and I love it! I like how there's certain events that we all put on and invite the whole student body to take part in.
