Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Creighton guys’ No. 1 complaint: Not enough hot chicks. Creighton girls’ No, 1 complaint: Not enough decent guys. An unofficial slogan is “Creighton University: Lowering Women’s Standards Since 1970.” Everyone seems to whine and moan about the dating scene. The real problem, however, is that an abundance of attractive males and females are wandering around campus, but they’re so used to seeing one another all the time that they can’t fathom approaching anyone because if rejected, he or she will probably be seated next to the other person in Spanish class next semester. The other problem has to do with a clash of maintenance levels. One male student says never to trust a white girl in Nebraska with an orange glow in February. It’s too far from any break for her to have just gotten back from Cabo—it just isn’t natural. Likewise, beware of the buff bio boys. No one gets pecs the size of a pony keg from dissecting small mammals.

There are some girls at Creighton who meet their husbands here, and there are some guys at Creighton looking for a quick hookup. But, by and large, students are here to study, with dating as an afterthought. Anyone's dream of being a big dater is generally quickly quashed. Girls give up on guys fast after realizing they greatly outnumber the opposite sex, and guys give up on girls after they realize that they simply are not interested.

Ew

It seems like they found every ugly, fat girl from Iowa, Wisconsin, Texas, and Nebraska and let them into Creighton. 3/10 girls are good looking. Put your Creighton goggles on and girls will look better, or just get drunk

Social Life

Social life on Creighton's campus is very good. However, from my point of view as a freshman with no car or means of transportation, it is a little difficult to get out and do things. People here and wonderful, nice, welcoming, and willing gan cable to help if need be. There is a small variety of options, but in terms of social life for me, as long as I have my friends (which I always do), then I'm good to go.

Be Who You Want to Be

Anyone can do whatever they want here. Despite the stereotypes (which are NOT true) everyone is accepting of everyone and you can wear whatever you want. There is a significantly larger population of women to men (about 70% women to 30% men). If you want a party you can find a party and if you want to stay in you can, but people do take studies seriously here.

Facts

Social Scene

There are a lot of social butterflies at this school. It's not uncommon to have several different groups of occasional friends and to switch groups entirely from year to year. People are so friendly at Creighton that it can be hard to tell whether you're a good friend match or just equally polite. However, there are some who quickly find and stick with a clique and others who are loners. One thing is for certain: anyone can find a group if they want. They may have to be willing to bend a little to fit in, but they can do it if they try.

Hookups or Relationships?

For many, the very short-term relationship—a.k.a hookup—is what it's all about. If you're going to be moving on in another four years or less, why hold yourself back from grad school or a career by having the excess baggage a relationships brings? Besides, a lot of people swear they could never find a soulmate at this place. However, chronic monogomizers will find company—several people do meet and have lasting relationships. Others may come to college and carry on a long-distance relationship, but those seem to have low rates of success.

Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls

Those who end up in lasting relationships are more likely to meet while volunteering, studying calculus, or hanging out in the dorms together. Few plan for this to happen, however, and go to class in their jammies and morning breath. Those who have a one-night flings are more likely to meet their animal passion objects at a frat party or in a bar.

Dress Code

There are quite a few well-dressed people at Creighton. Many guys wear the unofficial frat boy uniform—khakis and a sweater or button-up shirt. Many girls look like they've been zapped a few too many times in Ashley Lynn's tanning oven. But, cotton models and oompa-loompas be darned, there are a good handful who recognize the value of saving money for important stuff—like books and rent and, oh, tuition—by buying clothes from Target. Some even enjoy the vintage classics and shop Goodwill.
