Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Perhaps because the town offers so little in terms of pro sports and big entertainment events, Omaha overcompensates with a serious surfeit of restaurants. Students can enjoy a wide variety of cuisine options and take full advantage of the proximity and abundance of various eateries. Creighton is close to a lot of places to eat since it’s located on Dodge, the main street in Omaha, where there are many restaurants, and on the interstate, making most other parts of town extremely accessible. The nearby Old Market holds many of the most varied and charming restaurants around, with ethnic places like Ahmad’s Persian Cuisine and the French Café, and chains like Famous Dave’s, all within walking distance. Omaha is especially noted for its beef—especially steak—which you can savor at a number steakhouses. And, while student discounts aren’t all that common, students aren’t complaining—prices are low enough and portions large enough that it does usually feel like you’re getting a good deal.

Places like Old Chicago and Upstream are near and dear to many students’ hearts for their tasty pizza and sandwiches, while McFoster’s serves fresh and organic produce. Whether your palate demands something Cali, Mexican, or Chinese or whether you want upscale Italian or downtown American, there’s something tasty, affordable, highly caloric, and delicious on every corner. This load of restaurants has only one drawback: They are so outstanding that students cannot afford to go out often. The convenience and deliciousness are just too tempting for student budgets.

Nebraska Cookin' Has a Lot to Offer

Just recently, I was talking to my friend's uncle who lives in a ritsy area in Colorado. We were talking about how Nebraska actually has a lot of really good restaurants, and it's totally true. We have all of the main chain restaurants and a whole lot more. Student discounts are available but not advertised very well. Between Dundee, Midtown, North Downtown, Downtown and everywhere in between, you can find any kind of food. Falafels at Amsterdam, French food at Dario's Brasserie, burgers at Blanc, or the world's most amazing fish tacos at California Taco.

Eating at Creighton

Omaha is home to a ton of food options and Creighton is surrounded by a lot of places, just you will need a car to get to nearly all of them. Lisa's Radial Cafe is great for breakfast and Old Market is an area filled with great restaurants. My personal favorite is Spaghetti Works in Old Market. There are a lot of options as far as prices go and variety is definitely available in Omaha, if you want it, odds are you can find it.

Facts

Did You Know?

Omahans claim that the city has the most restaurants per capita in the United States. In the official report, it is the 17th city in the running, with a total of about 650 restaurants per 414,000 plus residents.

Runzas is a Nebraska-originated food that involves meat in a bread encasement.

Not surprisingly, Omaha is the home of the Omaha Steaks company. One needn’t look far to find “where’s the beef” in this carnivorous city.
