Financial Aid

Turn in your FAFSA as soon as you possibly can. This way you can get the most money before the campus runs out on it. Apply for financial aid even if you don't think you apply for it. Work study is great and there are many opportunities for it. They are pretty flexible in the financial aid office with assisting you in paying for it.

Strict Campus

Creighton is one of the strictest schools I've heard about. Being a Jesuit institution, we are not allowed to have the opposite sex in our rooms past 1PM on weekdays and 2PM on weekends. Students must hand their ID card to a desk worker to personally swipe the card after 7PM. Very early, most schools don't ever do this. However, there is always someone at the desk, which is safe. Creighton does not tolerate drinking and punishes somewhat severely. Parents are always notified if student is caught with alcohol in system/on body, and if severe student is sent to Creighton University Medical Center and fined. The student now has an offense on their record and must take classes.

We Have the Athletes, but Where Are the Fans?

The Varsity sports at Creighton are sometimes overlooked. Many people attend the games, but in comparison to other schools, the school spirit isn't as high. Although the athletic facilities are very nice, our whole campus doesn't revolve around sporting events. Many people however, choose to participate in intramural sports. Often times, the games are well attended, depending on if you know the people playing or not.

Inclusive & Opportunistic

Creighton University's Greek Life is OUTSTANDING. All of the sororities & fraternities are inclusive & the pan-hellenic council is devoted to providing great opportunities to the Greek Community. I highly recommend becoming a part of the Greek Life at Creighton.

There's on variety it seems like. It's just a routinized schedule and all the food is nasty. You'd think for a private school they'd take care of their students better.

There is a small but growing group of students doing salvia. However, the main drugs of choice are marijuana and alcohol.

Creighton is pretty hardcore about...

Creighton is pretty hardcore about drinking enforcement. There's this thing called CARE and if you have a BAC over .08, you get sent to the hospital and it can cost up to a $1,000. They also have pretty frequent bag checks where they will search all bags before you can enter a building. I would also say that drinking in your room is a no-no for the first semester freshman year. The RAs are really strict about it until after Christmas break, and even after that, there are still some who are pretty hardcore. My advice would be to go to the frats or be quiet in your rooms if you want to drink.

The food on campus is fairly good....

The food on campus is fairly good. There are ample opportunities to mix it up with different kinds of foods. All the dining halls are, decent so any one of them is a safe bet.

Off-campus housing is getting...

Off-campus housing is getting better. The University is working to provide a list of approved landlords that will make it easier for students to find housing.

Security and safety on campus is...

Security and safety on campus is fantastic, and there is relatively little crime. The school has call boxes, cameras, and officers who walk and drive around.

The weather in Omaha varies. In the summer and spring months, the high is usually around 80 degrees and very pleasant out. In the winter and fall, it can be very chilly. Pack for all kinds of weather, and layers are always a good bet.

Omaha is an amazing town with all kinds of fun activities to partake in. The Old Market district is a great place to go for dinner and shopping, and there are several malls in the Omaha area. The only part of town to stay away from is North Omaha at night. University of Nebraska at Omaha is close by, but the students from Creighton rarely interact with the students who go there.

Public transportation in Omaha is not really that great. There is a bus system but that is about it. Fortunately, there is always someone you can bum a ride off of.

The parking lot on campus is rarely full, and spots are plentiful. Freshmen are allowed to bring a car, but a parking permit is required.

The guys are pretty good looking,...

The guys are pretty good looking, but most of them are very stuck-up. Creighton is home to many preppy, rich kids. There are, however, a few down-to-earth good people.

There are no good restaurants...

There are no good restaurants within walking distance, but the Old Market is good, as well as the restaurants around Dodge Street and out west at Village Point.

Men's basketball and soccer are...

Men's basketball and soccer are huge! Other than that, the other sports get blown over. The IM program is a ton of fun, but we have to pay for our teams.

Food on campus is disgusting. Java Jay is probably the best place to eat. The dining halls are terrible.

Public transportation is really bad.

Every faculty member on campus...

Every faculty member on campus wants you to succeed. Every last one of them will take time out to help you, provided you are doing your workload. Creighton is very difficult academically—expect to spend many hours doing homework. Creighton is not the place to go if you want to party every night or not spend many hours doing homework. Students here are very focused. The average GPA is a 3.4, and that's not because the profs are easy.

There are lots of computers on...

There are lots of computers on campus, but most people bring their own. All of campus is Wifi except for dorm rooms, where you have to connect with an Ethernet. If you want WiFi, though, you can just go into the common area of the dorms. Everything regarding the school is done electronically—registration, paying tuition, and we get four or five e-mails a day from various parts of Creighton.

You can bring a car as a freshman...

You can bring a car as a freshman but don't expect to get a spot near your dorm. It seems like most of the parking on campus is reserved for faculty. And the parking permit is quite expensive. It is not uncommon for students to walk about a mile from their parking spot to class.
