Tips to Succeed
- Communicate-talk to the Center for Academic Advisement whenever you have a chance, talk to your deans, and if you have problems, talk to your professors.
- Enjoy Baruch. Do not make it only about work because you will wear yourself out and lose out on the whole college experience.
- Get good grades early because it's so hard to get your GPA up after it's gone down the drain.
- Get involved in campus life your freshman year. Baruch has so many clubs and extracurricular activities to offer that you would be missing out if you didn't participate in any of them. It's the closest thing you get to a dorm life, and it's free.
- Sit at the front of the classroom. You'll get to know your professor a lot better, and your professor will be more likely to notice you and give you a better grade for participation.
- Stay on top of the requirements needed for your major. Four years go by much quicker than you realize, and you don't want to be stuck scrambling to take classes in order to graduate on time.
- Visit the Starr Career Development Center for help or information regarding jobs and internships. Gaining work experience is a guarantee, and the STARR Center is dedicated to giving you all the help that you need.
Did You Know?
- Students in the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences can apply to create their own majors after attending a special workshop.
- Students can pay regular tuition while studying at a partner school abroad, but 60 percent of the student's major coursework must be done at Baruch.
