Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Baruch's sports programs aren't highly ranked, and most students say that intramurals aren't a big deal on campus, either. But, for students who do partake in sports—and there is quite a choice—the athletics department is a close-knit, heartfelt community where all the athletes know and support one another. Some students say they wish the school offered more choices, but you probably won't call it a deficit unless your life is centered around sports. Don't have a passion for competitive sports? No problem! You can still exercise for good health at the Athletic Recreation Center in the Vertical Campus, which offers a large swimming pool and a fitness center. You can meet a buddy on the racquetball court or try out the free ab class here.

While enthusiasm runs high among the players, the general fan base it limited. The stands at games are mostly filled with the athletes' friends and families. Basketball, volleyball, and swimming and diving are the only teams that play their home games and meets at Baruch; all other teams play off campus. But the College is trying to get exposure outside of the local area. For example, the men's volleyball team recently made trips to tournaments in Wisconsin, Maryland, and Massachusetts.

Sports Are Not Our Main Focus but Ok.

Our school is more into Business majors and since the space is quite limited in NYC, we don't have such a huge gym or sports related facilities but we do have quite good swimming pool and gym that we can use in between classes and all. HOWEVER, again.. too many people are there.

Baruch athletics are building up and with the best woman's basketball team within our local division, we are getting better and better each year. We have a lot of access and help to become better both academically and physically. facilities could improve but in the middle of the city we lack what other school have, space. School spirit is slowly increasing but again it's hard because its a college located in the middle of the city. People work and don't have time to go to games and support athletics.

Not Sure...

I know there are some, but I've never been really involved in them. I hope they promote the events more.

Most Popular Sports

Men's and women's volleyball and basketball, baseball, and softball are the most popular.

Most Overlooked Teams

Many sports at Baruch aren't super popular, but there aren't many that are overlooked completely.

School Spirit

While most Baruchians seem to commute to school with one purpose—take classes—there are a few campus events that bring many students together. It may be rare to spot a Baruch student wearing a sweatshirt with the school logo, but you can find plenty who are quite proud to attend one of the best public schools in New York and one of the most diverse campuses in the nation.

Getting Tickets

Tickets are generally inexpensive or free.

Best Place to Take a Walk

If you are looking for a peaceful and quiet walk during the day, you probably won’t find it on the bustling streets and avenues that surround the campus. Central Park is a way better option and is where many New Yorkers walk, jog, bike, and exercise.
