Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

For some students, the lack of dorms is the worst aspect of the school. Dorm life can help shape a student's overall college experience, often adding that special sense of communal living and belonging, but at Baruch, you just have to bear living off campus because there is no other way.

Until very recently, Baruch College did not provide any student housing at all. The school has just opened a new residence hall, 101Ludlow, with a capacity of 150 students about 15 minutes from campus. Unfortunately, that only accommodates about 1 percent of the total student enrollment.

If you can't get into the residence hall, but you still want to experience something close to dorm-style living, check out the office of Educational Housing Services. It's right across the street from the Vertical Campus and offers affordable student housing in Manhattan and Brooklyn. It provides fully furnished rooms and doesn’t charge broker fees.

Commuter, but Greater

Although I do not see myself living in New York City, for much longer after graduating from Baruch, this school has made it possible for me to withstand living in the city for three more years. It is a great atmosphere with plenty of events to attend and a student government that has really made my experience here worth while. The facilities are very modern and convenient. I absolutely love attending Baruch.

What Campus Housing?

Baruch is a commuter college, so there's no such thing as campus housing, even though they came up with a housing option a little bit close to the school. But it's pricey— each student has to pay about $1,000 a month for rent even if they're living with a roommate.
