Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Baruch is pretty safe, despite being in the heart of a huge city. Turnstiles block unwelcome visitors at the Vertical Campus, and in the 23rd Street building, a zealous guard sends students without proper ID straight to the office for identity verification. Crime is low on campus, with occasional thefts, loitering, vandalism, and some drinking. There is a particular stairwell in the Vertical Campus known as a place where students go to drink, smoke, or paint graffiti on the walls, but the school has been cracking down on this. Despite how safe you feel on campus, you should remain alert—especially off campus. While Manhattan has been experiencing historically low crime rates, New York is still a large city where anyone should practice common sense.

According to the annual statistics published by the Department of Public Safety, crime rates are pretty low on campus, especially when considering that there are roughly 15,000 students who attend the College. Safety officers are visible and patrol the campus in the evening, removing students who don't have official permission to stay inside after hours. There are dozens of security officers working on campus, and some of them may be more zealous than others. Most of the safety staff on campus is approachable and helpful if you have safety-related concerns.

Extremely Safe, Security Might Hassel You Though

The school itself feels really friendly. It doesn't seem like there's any danger. The only problem is that security will get really mad at your if you tell someone use your ID to swipe in.

Also, don't forget your ID at home or you'll have to type in your Social Security number to get into the school.

Quite Safe

I do feel safe on campus. First off, it is not an open campus, only students, professors and staffs can enter the school and there are security guards pretty much everywhere. I don't think they do patrols though. But again, even if they do exists, our school is just so crowded and you cannot possibly imagine what kind of people you are going to the school with. It's New York and we have lots of non-credit students as well. you just need to take care of yourself regardless of the level of security on campus.

Adequate Safety

The school has a few buildings and security is always present at the entrance to the buildings and respond promptly to any calls.
