New York City is a place that experiences the four seasons. Lately there has been less snow falling on the ground during the winter, but the cold winds still force students to wear a coat, hat, scarf and gloves. The lack of snow also insures that there is always school. Once the spring hits, one should start shedding layers, although the frequent rain during this season necessitates the investment in an umbrella. It is advisable to constantly check the weather to make sure what the appropriate dress wear is needed for any given day, especially if there are storm clouds on the horizon. Boots for boys and goloches for girls should be worn when it is raining. There is a tendency for water to stay as puddles, insuring that any sneaker will be drenched at the end of a persons' walk through the city on a rainy day.
The summer is hot and humid, so be prepared to wear shorts and a t-shirt. Bring water with you especially if you plan to take the subway—it could get really humid in the tight space, which will quickly dehydrate the body. During the summer season, open toe shoes are also a welcome investment, given that sneakers will insulate the heat making them burn.
