Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Because Hunter does not really have a campus, there are few places for a “drug scene” to exist, and whatever students do outside of the classroom is their own business. The College became a "dry campus" in 2009, which means that there are no more student government parties with alcohol, although clubs may still apply to host events with alcohol on campus.

Drug use does occur in the dorms, despite prohibition. However, there is no pressure to engage in it. For a student who has no particular wish to engage in drug use, he/she can avoid coming in contact with it, although one might occasionally smell suspicious odors wafting on certain floors. However, security around the main campus and dorms ensures that this risky behavior will probably be addressed if one is caught.

The Drug Scene at Hunter

The drug scene at Hunter seems to be limited to the outdoor smoking area of the main buildings where the students an homeless people smoke. This is where a lot of local dwellers from the nearby shelters come to ask the students for money and cigarettes. This is most likely the most exposure to drugs that campus life allows for or exposes.

No Pressure

Hunter is a commuter school so there is no drug scene to my knowledge. Police are everywhere and the campus isn't exactly in Harlem. Its the upper east side, and the student body is more mature than the average college community. You go to class and then you leave for work.
