Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Since Hunter is right in the middle of Manhattan, there are a wide variety of places to eat. Unfortunately, most places are rather too expensive for college students to eat at every day. However, there are a few places such as the halal stands around Hunter and a 24-hour grocery/deli/buffet shop on 72nd and Lexington that are relatively affordable. There is also The Food Emporium that's three minutes away from Hunter, and Walgreens, which has ready-to-go meals if you are in a hurry.

For healthy food, there is a fruit stand in front of Hunter, an Au Bon Pain store a few stops away (on the 6 train), and a Hale and Hearty store near Hunter. For those that like fast food, the closest McDonald’s or Wendy’s is on First Avenue. Around the main campus and the dorms, there’s enough variety to keep you satisfied—Indian, Thai, Italian, you name it. A number of places offer Hunter students a discount; they won’t ask you if you’re a student, though, so be ready with your ID when you pay. There are many places to eat at in and around Hunter; however, a lot of them tend to be slightly expensive, and it takes a while for one to decide which restaurants and stores are in your price range or offer the types of food you enjoy.

Midtown Food

The stands outside the Hunter College Building aren't really great for their food, but their coffee is really great. If you want to have good food, I suggest going to 3rd avenue 68th Street. It's just a small 3 minute walk from campus and you have a variety of places to choose. Chipotle has the best burritos for a great price.

Two Bro's Pizza

The "Two Bro's" pizza franchise has grown throughout the city, spawning many similar shops that feature its unique pricing: Every slice is 1 dollar! Cheap yet tasty, Two Bro's pizza has many locations, with two on the same famous block (St. Mark's Place between 2nd and 3rd avenues).

Lots of Edible Expensive Options

Though there is plenty to munch on the area itself is pricey. There are pizza places as well as authentic Thai food. The area offers many vegan/vegetarian options.
