Again, Far from Stellar

I can't wait to leave. This is the perfect school for full-time workers or older individuals, but all others: beware.

Just your average selection of computers, however since there are 30,000 + students here, they desperately need more.

Horrible!

The professors don't care about their classes, student--or amything really. The campus sucks and it's a "suitcase school." Everyone is pretty old. Needs proper funding as well--profs don't even have chalk to write on the board. Total bureaucracy--impossible to get any issues with grades/classes dealt with. Overall, horrible experience here.

Greek Life at CUNY Hunter College

Getter better but not there yet.

Hunter Greek life is okay, but it's not amazing. In the last few years there has been only one 2 notable fraternities even worth joining, and that's Alpha Phi Omega and Kappa Sigma, the one reason being that they are national fraternities. However, Alpha Phi Omega is the only service fraternity and it's co-Ed and Kappa Sigma is the only international social all male fraternity. For men at hunter college they can join APO and kappa sig and really take advantage of the benefits of being national. Women who want to reap the beenfits of a national organization can only join APO since its co-Ed. Other than that there isn't really much that Greek life can offer to women since all the sororities are all local. Oh also heads up... Everyone except the national orgs haze I see shenanigans all the time, it's fun to watch but still hazing. Well there's Greek life at hunter choose wisely.

Labs Are Usually Crowded Midday

The computer labs at Hunter College are usually crowded during the middle of the day since many students take classes in the afternoon. There is also a research priority for computers, so you might not get the chance to use one. That's why most people bring their own laptops. The WiFi has really good speed and reliability, so I strongly suggest bringing one only if you need to work on something important or if you have long breaks in between classes.

Subway!

I doubt many people drive to Hunter. We're situated right in the middle of the city and the College has its own stop on the 6 Train so the subway + MTA buses are the way to go. You don't need a car at all.

A Wide Variety

Hunter is a very diverse school so in terms of ethnicity and background, there is a great variety in guys and girls. However, 65% of Hunter's student body is female, so most of your classes will have many more girls. Looks are also varied, some attractive, some not (although this is subjective).

Pretty Safe

Hunter's campus is quite safe, with new I.D. scanners helping to ensure that non-students do not get into the buildings (which used to happen a lot). Public Safety officers are sometimes over-zealous and wield their power a bit much, but overall, they're fine.

Hunter College Very Diverse

Hunter college is a diverse community in the center of the BIG APPLE, NYC so nope there is no campus just the front of the building where you find fellow students chilling and smoking. However it is one of the top CUNY schools and is extremely competitive when it comes to the sciences. Although Hunter College gives many of its students great opportunities I do not like the student to teacher ratio especially when it comes to science courses (possibility of a 500+:1 ratio). Some students may not be phased by this but I prefer a much smaller ratio. Getting through the school hallways is a major hassle especially when your trying to get to class. But I do like my program (psychology), and the faculty in this department are extremely nice and helpful.

Hunter Provides Sports

Yes Hunter provides a number of athletic sports as well as exercising activities. Personally I am not into athletics but while I was taking courses in the summer at Hunter College my friend and myself did play racket ball and did a session of core-aerobics (pretty intense that one). We did enjoy ourselves. Does Hunter College have a gym? Yes but I often hear that its always crowded, which is not surprising because hunter has ALOT of students. As for the sports team I have never been to a game but I heard its a good way to meet people. Other than that there are alot more sporting activities such as swimming, basketball, tennis, volleyball, etc.

Hunter Strives for the Best

Currently I am doing a BS in Psychology, then hopefully furthering my education into the medical field. The workload at hunter college is fair. It honestly depends on the class. Many of the instructors are good but the course material can be a bit overwhelming especially from the science courses. The science departments really strive for the best with their students but if you can succeed in those classes you will leave with a lot of knowledge. However the courses in psychology are extremely good. I have enjoyed all of the psych courses I have taken mainly due to the professors who love to teach and make it fun and interesting.

Some of the Labs Get Crowded During Crunch Times

Some of the labs are crowded, and it could get very frustrating if you are in a hurry. It is definitely good to have your own computers in such times.

The Type of People at Hunter

Most people are fairly chill, but every now and then you will run into really stuck up obnoxious people. It may seem harsh, but i think every school will have people like that. But yeah for the most part, the people, guys and girls included, are pretty nice and friendly. Hunter is very clicky though. Most people only stick to their normal group of friends. People don't really reach out to anyone they dont know, so it can be hard to make friends if you come here not knowing anyone.

I Love Hunter

I just love the local atmosphere. Hunter is in the heart of NYC.

The shopping is great and the school is located in a very safe part of the city. The people are down to earth. The diversity is just wonderful. The nearby attractions is one of the reasons why Hunter is so special.

Transportation at Hunter

Transportation is usually pretty convenient at Hunter considering we are in the middle of the city. We have a number of trains at our disposal and service is relatively good. However buying the monthly metrocards can be costly, especially since the MTA service has not improved immensely following the price raise.

Amazing Things...

The biggest thing that separates Hunter College from all other campuses is that we have the best InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. We have the best balconies, and bridges that connect the campus buildings. Also, we have the advisors in the campus.

Depends

Each class is very different and some classes are harder than others. Some professors think that you are little kids and don't know anything whereas others assume that you've already covered this material. However, I love Hunter now. It takes a bit of getting used to and may feel like high school all over again but it's a good time.

I'm Pretty Satisfied

There is a definitely a good mix of people at Hunter, the problem is getting to know one another (this applies to professors as well). I really like that I wouldn't come out of college in debt and I get the experience with a dorm and study abroad.

It's NY...

Pretty typical to NY, you have certain people that are great looking, a.k.a, taken. The others are nice and fun to talk to, but nothing special looks wise. Get ready for lots of great personalities!
