Dalton State has a nice campus and professors that seem fairly interested in their students, but most students feel that the classes are not as challenging as they should be. Students who took honors and AP classes in high school often feel overprepared when they come to DSC. However, those students who didn't take the higher-level classes usually find DSC to be fine. It all depends on the type of student.

The College is not as cliqueish as high school, but students generally don't feel universal love and a sense of welcoming from each other. The "local haunts" consist of a mall, Wal-Mart, Starbucks, and a campus volleyball court. College is supposed to be the place where you meet your best friends, fall in love, gain new insight into society, and prepare yourself for your contribution to it. Many students don't feel that DSC offers much of any of the above.
