College Prowler Take
The average Dartmouth student will probably encounter a fair share of marijuana during his or her time at the College. It is definitely something that must be sought out—it won’t come to you, but if you’re of a mind to smoke, Dartmouth is as good a place as any. Ecstasy and mushrooms are available on campus but are a little difficult to come by. Likewise, cocaine and painkiller use exists but is not prevalent. One of the more disturbing trends, which is certainly not unique to Dartmouth, involves students using prescription stimulants—mainly Adderall—as study aids in the library in an attempt to make up for time lost to partying.

It's very minimal. It's weed predominately, but, overall, it's really not a big factor and can easily be avoided.

It depends on who you hang out with. Drinking is more prevalent, but I would be hard pressed to find a student who hasn't run into a joint on campus. Harder drugs are less common but definitely still around if you look in the right places.

Drinking is a big part of the social scene at Dartmouth, especially in the Greek system. Marijuana is also present in some parts of campus. Other drugs aren't really a problem here.

It’s there but doesn’t influence the campus very much. Not many people use drugs, it’s mostly just drinkers—really big drinkers. |
