While the quality and variety of the food prepared by Dartmouth Dining Services makes venturing off campus in search of a decent meal virtually unnecessary, it can be fun to reward yourself every once in awhile with a trip to Mai Thai, Molly’s, or Ramunto’s. Off-campus dining options in and around the town of Hanover are varied and plentiful—the food is agreeable and the prices are almost always reasonable, especially considering the alternative cost of eating on campus. Every Dartmouth student has his or her favorite off-campus eatery and some have one or two they think are less-than-spectacular, but on the whole, students consider themselves lucky to have such variety and affordability right in their own backyard.

There are a few decent pizza shops in town, as well as a couple of good places to grab breakfast—on the go or sit-down, it doesn’t matter. The coffeeshop scene in Hanover is pretty respectable, and there’s a smattering of authentic, American-style bar and grill places in Hanover and farther afield in West Lebanon, New Hampshire and White River Junction, Vermont. There are also less-expensive chain restaurants like Chili’s and Applebee’s and even fast food options like Taco Bell, Wendy’s, and McDonalds in West Leb. One popular thing to do, especially in the wintertime, is order Chinese or Indian takeout and have the meal delivered directly to your dorm—most establishments are happy to deliver to campus for a nominal charge. Another mainstay of every Dartmouth student’s experience is EBA’s late-night take-out/delivery option. Because on-campus dining usually shuts down by 1 a.m., EBA’s policy of leaving its doors and phone lines open until 2:10 a.m. can be a godsend for students up late studying or partying hard.
