College Prowler Take
Parking at Davidson is not a problem. Students agree that you might not always be able to get your favorite spot, especially when the campus is really bustling during the week, but you can always find one a reasonable distance away. One thing’s for sure: The parking situation is 10 times better at Davidson than at larger universities in the area (UNC, NC State), and those schools don’t even offer parking for their freshmen. For a school that allows all students to have cars beginning freshman year, Davidson does an impressive job providing more than enough parking. Lots are spread out across campus, assuring that students can park conveniently, regardless of where they live. While spots right outside your door might be hard to come by, they do exist. Also, there is overflow parking in the Satellite lot and Baker Sports Complex lot, so there is always somewhere to leave your car. Regardless of where you park or where you live, you won’t be walking more than 10 minutes back to your destination.

A sizable percentage of students bring their cars along, including the freshmen, so it can be a hassle to find a convenient spot. But I drive my car maybe once a week, so I really can't complain too much about a seven-minute walk to get to the front seat.

Freshmen can have a car if they buy a parking pass, though I would not recommend one during your first semester--it's really important to get acquainted with classes and the campus, and having a car is somewhat of a distraction. Parking is really no problem, though you occasionally have a walk to the parking lot (and by "walk" I mean 10 minutes). Parking is not done by seniority but rather who gets the space when.

Freshmen can bring a car. Parking is not so bad. You can walk to it from anywhere. Everyone gets the same chances to park wherever. As long as you have a parking permit, any student spot is fair game. The most coveted spots are in Belk parking lot, and the worst are in Satellite.

I drive a piece of crap car with a hanger for an antenna, so I am usually happy to find a far away parking space. Still, I usually manage to find some delightfully convenient arrangements. |

When I lived in Watts, I could always find a spot in Belk, the closest lot to Dormitory Row. Next year, I'm living in Irwin and am confident that I will easily find parking spots in the Satellite lot, right next door. There's plenty of parking. |
