Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Off-campus dining definitely makes up for any shortcomings in on-campus dining. The only downside is that, unlike some campuses, Denison’s meal plan does not accommodate any of these places. Denison is really focused on being a residential campus, and they firmly believe that eating on campus is a large part of that experience. Still, sometimes the dining halls just won’t offer anything appealing, and you’ll need to look elsewhere for a meal.

Pizza is a staple of many college students’ diets, and the same holds for Denison residents. Granville and the surrounding area boast an impressive number of pizza places, from East of Chicago in Newark to Elm’s Pizza Parlor, right in Granville. If a sit-down restaurant is what you desire, there are a few options right down the hill, such as Aladdin’s Restaurant, Brew’s Café Deli, Victoria’s Parlour, and the Village Coffee Company. If you’re able to get into Newark, Heath, or Columbus, a wide palette of choices lay before you. For a nice bit of Italian, you can trust Olive Garden. If you’re in the mood for steak, Texas Roadhouse is available, too. If you’re like most college students and are on a tight budget, a low cost place like Cheng’s Buffet or Tee-Jaye’s is a great choice. Most ethnic restaurants will be farther away in Columbus, but if you go, it is worth the trip. No matter where you go, leaving behind the dining hall is always an enjoyable experience.

Restaurant Strip

Denison's on campus dining services are miserable, so eating in town is a must! Almost all the restaurants in town are located on the same strip so it's easy to get food off campus if you're willing to walk down the hill. There aren't a ton of restaurant choices, but what Granville lacks in numbers it makes up for in quality. Food is reasonably priced and delicious.

Middle of Nowhere

Denison is in the middle of a small upper middle class town. The dining options are decent. Within walking distance is chinese food, greek food, a pub/berger place, a coffee shop, and Whit's Custard shoppe. If you have a car then you can go to the town over and get fast food like Micky D's BK and Wendy's, but like I said only if you have a car or a friend with a car and most don't especially freshmen. Another problem is that the town, Granville, basically shuts down around 7-8 o clock every night. There is noting off campus with in walking distance at night. But all in all i'm grateful for the food that we do have, because anything is better than the schools slop

Off Campus Dining at Denison

If you haven't heard of Easton Mall, you need to! Its the best largest shopping mall. name a restaurant they have it and another cheaper one that you haven't heard of but is awesome. Chipolte, Olive Garden, Ruby Tuesdays, and other chain restaurants are also only 15 minutes away from campus. If you don't want to drive there are great restaurants down the hill in down. There is a Chinese place and Greek Eats both in walking distance. The best place however is Brew's Cafe which is good old American Pub.
