The dorms at DePaul are extremely nice. While they're pretty expensive, students definitely get what they pay for in most cases. Many of the dorms are fairly new, and all are very well maintained. And, since DePaul is such as small campus, you’ll never be more than 10 minutes from anything on campus, no matter what dorm you live in. The dorms are also very secure. Residents must scan their ID to get into the lobby of each dorm, and then must swipe it again to access the main staircase and elevators leading to the dorm rooms. There's also a 24-hour security guard—a very important safety measure when living in Chicago. The resident advisers are usually very friendly and involved, and there are a variety of activities for dorm residents. Overall, the experience of living on campus is essential for first-year students at DePaul because nearly all dorm residents are freshmen. Living on campus is a great way to make friends freshman year because everyone is in the same boat.

Campus housing is not available to upperclassmen, and while it's offered to sophomores, most students move off campus after freshman year. Living in an apartment with two or three roommates is about the same price as living on campus but offers more independence. Also, less than a block from campus is 1237 West, a student apartment building that houses students from DePaul, as well a few from other accredited universities in the Chicago area. This complex is a good step between living on campus and renting a "real" apartment because it will accept financial aid, there's a 24-hour security guard, and all units come furnished.

Living on Campus

I really love living on campus. I stay in Clifton-Fullerton, and while it is not one of the most social it is still my favorite! University Hall is also a good one for freshman to stay in. Everything on campus is available to students including the library, the Ray Meyer Fitness center, and more. One of my favorite places is The Bean Cafe. I go there every morning to get may daily morning drink. I love being able to use the L to get around, and I have even ventured out on buses. It helps me get acquainted with the city better.

Living on Campus

Living on campus is great! Lincoln Park has such a nice campus and the L and buses are so easily accesible to anywhere in the city. The campus is very safe and I always feel comfortable walking around at any time of the day. There are plenty of places to go and study or just hangout.

Housing

The housing at DePaul University are very nice, however, space is limited so students must apply early for housing. Housing at DePaul is some of the best dorms I've ever seen! Most dorms have a feature of 'suite-mate' living, which means up to about four people share a bathroom - no community bathrooms! Two dorms do actually have community bathrooms for people who do not want to clean their own bathrooms. It is very fun to live on campus and there is always something to do! Rooms come with bookcases, shelved closets, a desk, a chair, and a bed.

Also Available		1237 West is only a block from DePaul's campus and offers apartment living for all students—undergraduate and graduate. This six-floor building offers one- to four-bedroom apartments that offer private bathrooms, a living room, kitchen, and coat rack. The building is decorated in a contemporary style, and offers everything from flat-screen televisions, ping-pong, and a Wii in the lobby for the residents. The door is guarded by a 24-hour security team. Guest policy is more relaxed compared to the University standards. For students looking to live comfortably in a safe environment off campus, 1237 west is a great option. University Center of Chicago houses students from DePaul's Loop Campus, Colombia College, and Roosevelt University. It offers dorm-style or apartment-style living, in addition to a food court, workout room, and rooftop garden. Vincent and Louise House is across the street from the Lincoln Park Student Center and provides 10 service-dedicated students with a community-living option. These students dedicate a year to community service and commit to simple-living habits.
